We’re delighted to share the latest chapter in the Marcliffe story - the unveiling of The Cushie, our new whisky and sports lounge, and the launch of three beautifully redesigned luxury bedrooms: Balmoral, Crathes, and Fraser.

Inspired by the rich heritage of the North East, each of these rooms has been thoughtfully reimagined to blend timeless elegance with modern comfort. From upcycled furniture and locally inspired artwork to carefully chosen ornaments that honour our legacy, every detail has been curated to reflect the spirit of the Marcliffe.

The Balmoral Suite: A Royal Retreat

At the heart of this transformation is The Balmoral Suite, a master bedroom fit for a King and Queen. Featuring a four-poster king-size bed, built-in wardrobes, a dressing table, and a soft seating area overlooking the gardens, the suite is complemented by a spa-inspired en-suite with a roll-top bath and rainfall shower.

Adjoining the suite is The Balmoral Lounge, a spacious retreat with luxury seating, a private bar area, wine coolers, and a pull-out bed for additional guests, complete with its own en-suite. This is more than a suite. It’s an experience reserved for those who expect nothing less than the extraordinary.

More Rooms, More Comfort

We’re also upgrading six additional bedrooms on the south side of the hotel. These rooms will feature larger layouts, refreshed interiors, improved air conditioning, and enhanced in-room amenities, all shaped by feedback from our #MyMarcliffe guest survey.

Located within the main hotel building, The Cushie is our warm and inviting whisky and sports lounge. With a rich, cosy interior and a curated selection of Scotland’s finest whiskies, it’s the perfect place to unwind. The space retains memorabilia from the former billiard room, celebrating local sporting heroes and adding a touch of nostalgia. In a unique twist, the bar itself has been crafted from the original billiard table.

Available exclusively for private hire, The Cushie offers a refined setting for intimate drinks receptions, alternative meeting spaces, or relaxed private dining, whether you're enjoying live sports or a tailored whisky experience.
