Marcliffe reveals Suite & Superior Room collection after £1.1M investment

At Marcliffe, Aberdeen’s only five-star hotel, we are proud to unveil our newly renovated collection of Suites and Superior Rooms, marking the latest milestone in our ongoing investment programme and long-term vision for the future of the hotel.

Following a £1.1 million refurbishment, thirteen rooms have been thoughtfully transformed, with each space redesigned to celebrate our heritage, character and sense of place.

Named after some of the North-East’s most iconic castles, every room reflects our signature couthie aesthetic, inspired by the calming colours and natural beauty of the Scottish landscape. Soft greens, warm blues and bespoke touches of our exclusive Balmoral tartan, created for our owners by Araminta Campbell, feature throughout. Carefully selected furnishings, ambient lighting and distinctive design details combine to create a stay that feels personal, restful and refined.

As demand for family travel continues to grow, we have also introduced two new Superior Family Rooms, designed to offer luxury and comfort for guests of all ages. Children can settle into bespoke bunk or cabin beds, each complete with its own built-in television, while mini bathrobes and slippers add an extra touch of excitement. Parents can unwind in stylish surroundings featuring a king-sized bed and comfortable lounge area.

Marcliffe's Managing Director, Jordan Charles, said: “Marcliffe is going through a multi-year transformational investment programme which began last year and is already delivering tangible results, with an ambitious growth strategy to follow. 

"This latest renovation marks another exciting chapter for the hotel. The Balmoral Suite and our Crathes and Fraser Superior Rooms, which launched at the end of last year, generated immediate demand and achieved a very strong average daily rate. With six Superior Rooms, two Superior Family Rooms and two additional Suites now complete, we are looking forward to a busy season ahead.”

The refurbishment follows a landmark year for Marcliffe. In 2025, we were awarded the prestigious AA Five-Star rating, the leading national benchmark for hotel and restaurant excellence across the UK.

We have expanded our estate through the acquisition of Woodbank, a neighbouring 14-acre property formerly owned by Shell. A multi-million-pound investment has been earmarked to support our long-term growth plans, including additional guest accommodation and luxury leisure facilities.

Earlier this year, we also launched Skylark Brasserie following a £5.5 million investment, which included the installation of a state-of-the-art kitchen, further enhancing our food and drink offering and reinforcing our commitment to delivering exceptional guest experiences.

Together, these developments represent our continued investment in Marcliffe and our ambition to create one of Scotland’s leading luxury hospitality destinations.
